As an actuator in the hydraulic system, the Hydraulic Cylinder can convert hydraulic power into a mechanical output device. It can be used to achieve reciprocating motion. It has a large output, can move straight up and down, has no transmission gap, and moves smoothly. Therefore, it is widely used in the automation industry, food packaging industry, engineering machinery, machine tool equipment, automobile manufacturing, metallurgy and mining, and aerospace industry. There are many ways to install hydraulic cylinders. If they are not installed correctly, they will have a great impact during use, such as oil leakage, axis bending, insufficient output, unstable output, etc. Let's talk about the precautions for the installation of hydraulic cylinders.

 

1. Precautions for the installation of hydraulic cylinders

 

1.1 The hydraulic cylinder and the surrounding environment should be clean. The oil tank must be sealed to prevent pollution. The pipeline and oil tank should be cleaned and maintained regularly to prevent the detachment of iron oxide and other debris. If they are not cleaned regularly, foreign matter in the air and the surrounding area may enter the cylinder with the axis. Long-term use will damage the seal and the inner wall of the cylinder, causing damage to the hydraulic cylinder. Use lint-free cloth or special paper for cleaning. Do not try to use hemp rope and adhesive as sealing materials. The hydraulic oil must specify the ISO model oil, and pay attention to the changes in oil temperature and oil pressure. When unloaded, the exhaust bolt needs to be unscrewed for exhaust.

 

1.2 The piping connection must not be loose, otherwise it will leak, causing unstable air pressure or foreign objects entering the air source to damage the hydraulic cylinder.

 

1.3 The flange plate of the hydraulic cylinder must be hard. In order to save costs, some manufacturers make some flange plates with poor hardness. After long-term use of the cylinder, the flange plate will deform and the cylinder axis will bend, which will cause damage to the cylinder.

 

1.4 When replacing the hydraulic cylinder, you need to take a photo of the label and send it to the manufacturer, communicate with the manufacturer before purchasing.

 

1.5 For the mobile cylinder with fixed foot, the central axis should be concentric with the center line of the load force to avoid causing lateral force, which can easily cause wear of the seal and damage to the piston. When installing the hydraulic cylinder of the moving object, keep the hydraulic cylinder parallel to the moving direction of the moving object on the guide surface, and the parallelism is generally not more than 0.05mm/m.

 

1.6 Install the sealing gland screws of the hydraulic cylinder body. The tightening degree should be appropriate to ensure that the piston moves flexibly throughout the stroke without obstruction and uneven weight. If the screws are tightened too much, it will increase resistance and accelerate wear; too loose will cause oil leakage.

 

1.7 For hydraulic cylinders with exhaust valves or exhaust plugs, the exhaust valves or exhaust plugs must be installed at the highest point to exhaust air.

 

1.8 The axial ends of the hydraulic cylinder cannot be fixed, and one end must be kept floating to prevent the influence of thermal expansion. Due to the effects of factors such as liquid pressure and thermal expansion in the cylinder, there is axial expansion and contraction. If the ends of the cylinder are fixed, the various parts of the cylinder will be deformed.

 

1.9 The clearance between the guide sleeve and the piston rod must meet the requirements, otherwise the seal will be damaged.

 

1.10 Pay attention to the parallelism and straightness of the cylinder and the guide rail. The deviation should be within 0.1 mm/full length. If the total length of the upper busbar of the hydraulic cylinder is out of tolerance, the bottom surface of the bracket of the hydraulic cylinder or the contact surface of the machine tool should be scraped to meet the requirements; if the side busbar is out of tolerance, the hydraulic cylinder and the fixing screws can be loosened, the positioning lock can be pulled out, and the accuracy of the side busbar can be corrected.

 

1.11 When disassembling and assembling the hydraulic cylinder, be careful not to damage the thread at the top of the piston rod, the cylinder mouth thread and the piston rod surface. It is strictly forbidden to hammer the cylinder barrel and piston surface. If there is loss on the cylinder hole and piston surface, it is not allowed to grind with sandpaper. It must be carefully ground with fine oilstone. I suggest that engineers should not be fanciful and feel that the structure of the Oil Cylinder is very simple, so they disassemble the oil cylinder for repair by themselves. When you disassemble it, you will find that there are a lot of seals inside. It takes a long time to buy the seals, and the size is not easy to choose. It is better to send it directly to the manufacturer for repair, which can save time and labor.

2. Correct maintenance and care

 

2.1 During the use of the oil cylinder, the hydraulic oil should be replaced regularly, and the system filter should be cleaned to ensure cleanliness and extend the service life.

 

2.2 Control the system temperature. Excessive oil temperature will reduce the service life of the seal. Long-term high oil temperature will cause permanent deformation or even failure of the seal. If it is used for a long time, it will damage the inner wall of the cylinder and make the cylinder unable to be repaired again. If a high-temperature resistant cylinder is required, it is necessary to communicate with the manufacturer in advance, and the manufacturer will customize a high-temperature resistant cylinder.

 

2.3 Protect the outer surface of the piston rod to prevent damage to the seal from bumps and scratches. Clean the seal dust ring of the cylinder and the sand or iron slag on the exposed piston rod frequently to prevent the dirt that is difficult to clean on the surface of the piston rod from entering the cylinder and damaging the piston, cylinder or seal.

2.4 Check the connection parts such as threads and bolts frequently, and tighten them immediately if they are loose. Otherwise, the loose screws will cause oil leakage in the cylinder or bending of the cylinder axis.

 

2.5 Lubricate the connection parts frequently to prevent rust or abnormal wear in the absence of oil.
